Apologies adoring audience of like 10 people - February was not my finest month. My heath has been a major source of frustration and as a result my commitment to both blogging and reading slipped quite a bit. However, this weekend I struggled with migraines, a pain source that I am more used to and do better at finding ways to read while I suffer. The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix was the perfect book to devour over a couple days when my brain was taking breaks from trying to murder me.
If you’re a fan of classic slasher films, read this. If you’re a fan of fast-passed mystery novels and thrillers, read this. If you think psychology is cool and love true crime and serial killers, read this. I, personally, am all of these things.
The Final Girls are spectacularly written bits and bobs of what trauma does to a person. Lynette is fabulously believable and over-the-top at the same time and her narrative draws you in like an emotionally disturbed young man to a cabin filled with young women.
I want to say I couldn’t put this book down but my brain had other plans. Even at the height of my pain, I added the book to my bag to take to the ER with me. It took me a few days but it is easily a binge read one night when you want to just lose yourself in a book. I cannot recommend The Final Girl Support Group enough. Go read it!
