The Cubicle - Part 1

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

I started my current office job on March 23rd, 2020 - the first day that everyone in my company moved to remote work thanks to the Pandemic. Over the past year and a half, I have worked to create a comfortable and personal home office. I've worked to define a space that is visually pleasing, since it is where I spend the majority of my day, five days a week.

As vaccination rates increase and virus cases decrease, the company is discussing the eventual return to the office. I am spending more and more time in my current cubicle and I have been miserable. No natural light. No spider plants. Green on gray on gray (and I'm a fan of gray!). The only way that I'll be able to stomach a return to the office is if I give the same attention to my cubicle as I did to my home office.

After a few days in the office a couple weeks ago. I set to the task of searching out cubicle make-over inspiration and office products. To my surprise, I didn't find much that fit my vision. I want chic midcentury modern style. The glamour. The glitz. The high-powered marketing beauty. Think Madmen - but smaller. Cubicle-sized.

So here I am, searching Etsy and E-bay for vintage pieces that will inspire me and preparing to DIY the heck out of a cubicle transformation. I have a vision. Now to find all the pieces and bring them together. It's going to take some time but with any luck I'll have an office that I love by the time I need to be there regularly.
